Hong Liang Art Museum is located on the east side of the expansive lawn, with a forest and dried riverbed immediately to the west. The building comprises three large exhibition cubes that appear to float lightly above the green grass. The recessed transparent glass creates subtle shadows, reinforcing the sensation of levitation while allowing the green spaces on the east and west to visually connect.
The entrance forecourt and main lobby maintain the same gentle slope as the lawn, naturally guiding visitors downward. The transparent glass curtain walls create a seamless visual connection between interior and exterior: one side faces the grassy slope, the other the forest. When the upper-level special exhibition hall is closed, visitors can pass through the lobby to reach the café and the public artwork Confrontation, Conversation.
The surfaces of the cubes are clad in titanium-zinc panels and exposed concrete. Carefully chosen to match in hue and brightness, these materials convey a subtle ambiguity and a sense of nuanced spatial character.
